Welcome to the life of the nine to five where the strong survive It ‘kinda gets late just to go outside Make ends meet so we all can thrive I wrote this letter as a psalm of pride Whether you serve food or wash plates, teach school where you once stayed What's the meaning of a small raise when they give a petty reason to deduct pay? How much more can you expect? They broke you off, could've been much less Sacrifice too much time to get this check, how you sit back knowing that your dreams in debt? Just to lay in wait, the greatest fate, is a man too afraid just to make mistakes It might take ten years ‘fore you bound to break, I just hope that I'm next in the line for grace ‘Cause I ‘dun paid my dues, laced my shoes, stayed down for ten years to get screwed If nice guys finish last then I'm cool with a crown on my head when my soul's a jewel But I'm confused, on the path, to success I just really ‘gotta ask Let me count it up, ‘ion even see the math, I anticipate the moment it's a thing of the past For me to get by, I really wish that I could just fly, away from the fact Some people only love with conditions, and will only stick around if their name is attached To leave you lost in suspicion, of what could have changed in this case So, the disregard in this idle time is when I can really say I'm so sick and tired of just working at a job I rather live my dreams than just take orders from Bob But if I take for granted might be a blessing disguised Do I just shrug my shoulders and take it in stride? I'm so sick and tired of just working at a job I rather live my dreams than just take orders from Bob But I can't take for granted might be a blessing disguised Get on my feet, let go my pride So, I tell myself just wake up Just wake up Get cake up (2x) Just wake up (2x) Get cake up (2x) Just wake up (2x) Get cake up (2x) Just wake up, get cake up It's ‘kinda hard when I think back, the worst times left a stain that's Deep ingrained inside, replays in my mind sometimes I feel a weak lack It's like I'm trying to climb a mountain when my hands are tied They thrown dirt on my name, plenty shameless lies I ‘dun prayed on my knees, even begged and cried But too many of us give up when our dreams denied cnd denounced or delayed, not a penny for thoughts are even paid Try to reprimand me ‘ion even see the shade when I'm trying to fight a battle inside to go insane From the pressures of life, hope it pass me by in good faith The mission is a lonely race, struggling at times to maintain a pace against a world ticking down with every passing day I was never born in this life to lose, I ‘gotta dig deep inside I might get bruised My habits are reflections of the life I choose So, do you get up and grind or you just hit snooze? Ready to complain when you hit a wall, focus on the prize but never the fall I work hard but I don't get called to enjoy the fruits of labor, I'm so appalled But ‘imma try to keep a straight face, be living proof I got what it takes I'm the master of my own fate, I can never be defined by the crime rate Every breath that I take is a gift at chance, for me to come alive take a dive advance So when I clock in on my job today, I meditate my mind and say I'm so sick and tired of just working at a job I rather live my dreams than just take orders from Bob But if I take for granted might be a blessing disguised Do I just shrug my shoulders and take it in stride? I'm so sick and tired of just working at a job I rather live my dreams than just take orders from Bob But I can't take for granted might be a blessing disguised Get on my feet, let go my pride So, I tell myself just wake up Just wake up Get cake up (2x) Just wake up (2x) Get cake up (2x) Just wake up (2x) Get cake up (2x) Just wake up, get cake up
