He had a handwritten note, from his wife Mary Lou 
That said decorate the tree in the yard with a string of lights or two 
She had no clue just how far he’d go
He bought 200 strands but even he didn’t know
What it would lead to 
Before he knew it the town was talking bout  
The man with his wishing tree shining bright and loud

There’s a place in every little town 
Where the kid in all of us all gathers round

The years have gone by, but I remember it as kid, 
My dad slowing down so we could get a better look at it 
And every Christmas eve, we’d walk down George street
Take pictures together, and feel the spirit of the wishing tree 

Looking back on those pictures, now 
Makes me realize what this Christmas season’s really, all about 

There’s a place in every little town 
Where the kid in all of us all gathers round

Then one year that old man, wasn’t there to hang his lights 
But his grandson took pride in making sure that it was done right 
So that every boy and girl in town, could soak in the glow 
And make a wish in the falling December snow
