they’re turning out the lights in good old london town

destroying all our memories look hard they are still around

all grown up and gentrified but still built up on lies

our history been kicked aside replaced by higher rise

steel and glass predominate this urban gentrify

ripped the very heart out city life about to die

killing off our culture this government deny

those born and bred priced out instead they struggle to survive

we don’t need no gentrification

we all live here after all

i've seen the writing on the wall

that this city’s about to fall, fall, fall, fall

rise rise rise up for me tonight

all gentrified and formalised

its heart ripped from the core

turned out the lights but kept the sights

the tourists clamour for

they’re building for the sake of it

fills bankers pockets more

and they’re killing london’s culture

like they never have before

approved the demolition but you'll never take us down

took a feather from old mother cap but you will never steal her crown

you’ve lied to so many times but we are organised

this is our day of reckoning together we're unified

steel and glass predominate this urban gentrify

ripped the very heart out city life about to die

killing off our culture this government deny

those born and bred priced out instead they struggle to survive

we don’t need no gentrification

we all live here after all

i’ve seen the writing on the wall

that this city’s about to fall, fall, fall, fall

rise rise rise up for me tonight

all gentrified and formalised

its heart ripped from the core

turned out the lights but kept the sights

the tourists clamour for

they’re building for the sake of it

fills bankers pockets more

and they’re killing londons culture

like they never have before

we don’t need no gentrification

cos we are people, not experimentation

rise rise rise up for me tonight

rise watch everybody rise

they tell us fucking lies

watch everybody rise

we don’t need no
