Said she had a problem with life
And she don't really like it
I said you won't get much trouble if you don't invite it
Used to conversate
We'd lay back on the bed
I'd look at her the fondest way
Used to talk about if Egyptians really built the pyramids
The first man to record time and what year it is
Deep shit
Way better than any other woman
And not just a woman that you'd just sleep with
The world was hers
She really knew her worth
But what hurts is people still treated her worse
Never revealed to me that she had a flaw
Plus everyone else's pain mattered more
As true as it all is, she didn't really know the facts
I'll talk about 'em
I at least owe her that

If I could harbour your pain
Take it all away
Would that make you feel better
I promise you that pain ain't forever
If I could harbour your pain
Take it all away
Would that make you feel better
I promise you that pain ain't forever

She had a man but felt a little bit alone
Looked after her brother as if he was her own
Plus her parents said that she need a job
40 hours a week at least would cream the crop
At work, wasn't surrounded by a decent lot
I said don't pay attention to the cheap shots
Plus, they may all get along
But they slag each other off
Try to be like everyone else and you'll be forgot
Early 20's but she was good at out-thinking
Working and saving while her friends were out drinking
Had a dream of her own that she wanted to chase
That job I spoke about
She weren't fond of the place
I said she need to make some time for herself
Time's the only thing you can lose and never find
You can't buy it on shelves
I could tell the bullying at school still affected her
Funny how them same guys wanted to get next to her

If I could harbour your pain
Take it all away
Would that make you feel better
I promise you that pain ain't forever
If I could harbour your pain
Take it all away
Would that make you feel better
I promise you that pain ain't forever

See her man, he never even listened
She wanted everything he didn't
He had to let her go so she could find what she deserves
It broke his heart to break hers
But who was he to cling on to such an angel
Someone so faithful to someone so hateful
If he could make it work with anyone
It would've been her
But he couldn't, he weren't good at the work
He left her wondering if they were even in love
He's out there somewhere with the guilt eating him up
Believes he did the right thing even though it might sting
She's still young enough to find him
She had her life plans
But he weren't the right man
That's right, man
No one could love him like that wife, damn
And it's quite sad 'cause instead of harbouring her pain
He broke her heart and he made her have to start it all again

If I could harbour your pain
Take it all away
Would that make you feel better
I promise you that pain ain't forever
If I could harbour your pain
Take it all away
Would that make you feel better
I promise you that pain ain't forever

I promise you that pain ain't forever
