I was originally a poet before I like many others got caught up in the Beatles hysteria in the 60s and decided playing rock music was the best medium to satisfy two of my talents, a penchant for writing lyrics and guitar playing. I did some formal classical guitar training up to around intermediate stage but then concentrated on electric guitar instead. I founded three Australian alternative bands that played in the early eighties(The Immaculate Crows, Insurrection and The Popes). Rightly or wrongly all bands were named by me and I was the principal songwriter/lead guitarist in all these bands. I played in these bands from late 1981 to early 1985 and then became disillusioned with band politics. This changed when I reunited with Mark Hocknell from the original Immaculate Crows in 2019. This became a short but fruitful union where I wrote, played on and arranged all songs and Mark also played on and produced the initial track recordings and my wife Carolyn Neilsen recorded vocals and extra tracks as well as producing the final mix-down. Kagen Step does the final mastering. Mark ceased the partnership on March 2021 and since then Carolyn and myself have been producing new songs.
