National Park Radio

Emotional, gut-wrenching, but still incredibly hopeful, National Park Radio’s music reverberates important themes about life, love, and difficult choices, all while echoing the enduring beauty of the band’s deep-seated roots in the Ozark Mountains. Formed in Harrison, Arkansas in 2012, National Park Radio, headed by singer/songwriter Stefan Szabo, have infused the surrounding region (and many others as well) with their unique brand of indie folk music. Emerging from the shadows cast by giants Mumford & Sons, The Decemberists, and The Avett Brothers, NPR offers the indie folk world something a little different: An outstanding blend of incisive songwriting and organic Americana charm, alongside a heritage in genuine mountain music. Szabo (lead vocals, acoustic guitar) self-produced the band’s EP back in 2013, and National Park Radio has never looked back. Initially, the music spread like mountain wildfire throughout the region, earning the band a substantial and incredibly loyal following in their home region. Szabo’s wife Kerrie joined the band with the release of their album “Old Forests” (2017), bringing beautiful harmonies and a unique chemistry that creates a sense of family at the core of the band. They have spent the last few years touring and gaining fans throughout the West and Midwest, from California to Nashville.

Into the forest
Go out through the window
Let God do the talking
If anything, he knows
The dead of the ages
Have blood at your doorposts
They tried to convince you
That God is a ghost
I wish you could tell me
Just everything you know
Though cells aren't moving
The anser's gone too slow
And deep in the forest
You thought of the past
The breath that you had
In your lungs was your last
Can you hear them
Calling now?
Death's only mystery
Is knowing when and how
If somebody told you
That you were the savior
Would you try to please them
And change your behavior?
The rest of your life
Would you gather believers
And try to convince them
To follow the leader?
But it's kind of cheating
Don't say that it's nobel
To take all those beatings
And bleed at the table
When deep in your mind
To know when you're dead
In just a short time
You'll soon rise again
Can you hear them
Calling now?
Death's only mystery
Is knowing when and how
Into the forest
Outrun all the sinners
We run from the churches
We run from believers
We chose to ignore the
Traditions and hope
Only god can convince me
That he's not a ghost
Can you hear them
Calling now?
Death's only mystery
Is knowing when and how
Oh can you hear me
Calling now?
Death's only mystery
Is knowing when and how
