Jay Asylum is a multi-talented rapper whose roots & most of his fan base are from Pretoria. What many don’t know is that the rapper was born in 2002,in Cape Town but raised in Mabopane making him 20 years old at the time this biography was written. He is well-known for his diverse sound that ranges from Lo-fi to rage trap. The key elements in his music being his carefree yet thoughtful flows combined with his ability to play around with his vocals.’ Greenlight’ was Jay Asylum's first release, he released his much anticipated first E.P "M.I.A I" on the 14th of April 2020 with his M.I.A partner R.I.P Massacre. Jay also possesses talents both in front of & behind the camera as of late in 2022 & very early on in 2023 he further portrayed his work ethic & plethora of talents when he made various appearances & cameos in many of the upcoming YouTuber’s videos, although we hardly see much of his public persona the uncharted territory of YouTube seems like the perfect fit for the rapper as his charisma & charm steal most of the scenes he is featured in. He further teased his first music video-which was shot independently-early in April 2023 for the much awaited drop of his first release of the year. The year 2023 promises to be a pivotal one for the artist because he also revealed that he would also be dropping another project titled ‘Do As You Please’ with local bangers such as ‘Coach Gento’ & ‘SoHo’ it is set to be “the hottest project of the year” in his own words. His latest project ‘Wings: The V.H.S Story has to be his best work to date commercially. It dropped on the 23rd of September in 2020 on SoundCloud & it continues tallying up more plays & streams daily. Going into 2024, Jay is definitely one artist you should keep an eye on, from his great work ethic coupled with his amazing talents,I’m definitely excited to see what he has to offer us creatively going into the future.
