The Filthy Violets

Some things change while others never do. This project started with a set of brothers playing just drums and guitar in a garage. Improvising for hours that added up to years, the love and passion for expression through music seemed to be the ultimate bond for these two. Blues and rock improvisational jamming evolved into a unique blend of grungy rhythm (filthy) with sweet, strong melody (violets). At the closing of 2010 their ideas and fervor to share them could no longer be contained. Putting together a group to mold, shape and drive this dream to the stage was the only move left to make. Jeremiah had two people in mind, Cesar Canjura (bass) and Timothy Sams (drums). He had played with both of them and knew they were of the right caliber, but they needed to be much more than skilled. They turned out to be a perfect fit. The weird, on-the-fringes personality of Tim Sams and debonair, suave charm of Cesar Canjura brought thundering dynamics to the soon to be Filthy Violets. Within a month The Filthy Violets had met with producer Jeff Mccullough and knocked out their first album. Jeff provided an inspirational environment that the new band mates felt comfortable expressing in. Much more than that, Jeff is a true visionary with follow through. The Filthy Violets played with some success around San Diego over the next two years until an explosion took place between the two brothers, Jesse and Jeremiah. With Jesse's drug use creating regular chaos, there naturally arose a huge stumbling block for the bands success. In July 2012 they decided to call it quits and take a hiatus. Over the next year Cesar, Tim and Jeremiah experimented with post rock, instrumentals. Infusing a funky backbone to all they were doing their sound grew into something unique and unheard. This all working for the benefit of the inevitable reunion of The Filthy Violets. With an open mind, passion for writing and a deep camaraderie the band reformed in June 2013. This time adding keyboardist

Watching you smile
Yeah it sure is sweet
Chin so high
Never dragging your feet
It sure is sweet
So sweet to see
But it's a problem for me
Cause I want you to break
So that you can see
I'd give it all
Yeah I can be sweet
You will know
Baby you don't know
I'll let you know
Yeah I'll let you know
Now you're hurt
Tears roll down your face
And you aren't so sweet
But there's a halo hanging over me
You lend me your ear
You listen and draw near
You say you never knew
I've always been here
I think I got through
Yeah I think I got through
I let you know
Now it's me and you
