The smooth and mellow, cool and country vocals are what make him the new sound of Country. Reminiscent of Southern back roads, Saturday night anthems, and down-home friends and family brings to you, singer/songwriter Derek Johnson. The grandson and son of cotton, soybean, and cattle farmers, just good ole southern people…his roots are the definition of the songs he sings. Born in the deep south, Mobile, Alabama, he grew up in small nearby towns of Saraland, Excel, and Perdue Hill. He has also resided in Mississippi, Virginia, Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma, California, and Colorado, all of which has molded him into who he is today. After graduating from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s in Business, Derek moved to Nashville and worked on Music Row with many notable artists, songwriters, and producers from 2008 to 2011. Despite the continued aches and pains, you cannot find him without the lack of humor or positivity, as he’s coined his own motto: “I walk with a limp, not just cause I’m country!” After retiring from the Army, he moved back to Nashville in 2016 and reunited with several colleagues including hit songwriter’s and producer’s Phil O’Donnell and Billy Lawson to launch his career as a singer/songwriter. His debut Album was produced by Phil O’Donnell. Phil has written three #1 singles for Blake Shelton (“Doin What She Likes”), George Strait (“Give It All We Got Tonight”), and Montgomery Gentry (“Back When I Knew It All”);
