The darkness falls silently,
like a blanket from the sky.
The sunset slowly disappears,
fading fast from my mind's eye.

The moon rises quietly,
an apparition in the mist.
I don't believe in ghosts.
I tell myself they don't exist.

I hear noises, see hallucinations,
feel uncomfortably strange sensations. 
Unholy voices, unfriendly faces,
I feel their pain from distant places.
