Reputation

by Lucy Frost

I’ve got a reputation
from all the things I’ve done while I’m wasted
alone at 21 so let’s face it
because heaven knows I’ll sin along the way
some people call it reckless
drinking on a barstool with my exes
playing god but damn I’ve been so selfish
and everything will get to you someday

guess all those happy ever after endings started too soon
‘Cause not all fairytale romantics seem to make it to June
he may be starry eyed and handsome
but damn he’s a fool
‘cause he’ll be thinking ‘bout the next one only days after you

feels like Americana movies how they stick to the past
but I need movies to seduce me and the bad thoughts I have
something like James Dean, leather jacket, heart painted black
don’t need no saving, like a damsel under attack

so dear future husband
if you’re listening I hope you understand
I’m alright, when you’re wondering
but I won’t lie to you say that everyday was well-behaved ‘cause I, oh I

I’ve got a reputation
from all the things I’ve done while I’m wasted
alone at 21 so let’s face it
because heaven knows I’ll sin along the way
some people call it reckless
drinking on a barstool with my exes
playing god but damn I’ve been so selfish
and everything will get to you someday

Man, I hate New Years Eve and Christmas since
the day that you left
feels like a reason to keep drinking ‘til the holidays pass
I thought we’d make it to Thanksgiving but I’m facing the facts
that all my shitty birthday wishes never came true at last

so dear future husband
if you’re listening I hope you understand
I’m alright, when you’re wondering
but I won’t lie to you say that everyday was well-behaved because I, oh I

I’ve got a reputation
I’ve got a reputation
and everything will get to you someday
