Lyrics:

Do you wanna be, do you really wanna be a cop?

Career opportunities, the ones that never knock
Every job they offer you is to keep you out the dock
Career opportunities, the ones that never knock

I hate the army and I hate the RAF
I don't wanna go fighting in the tropical heat
I hate the civil service rules
I won't open letter bombs for you

Career opportunities, the ones that never knock
Every job they offer you is to keep you out the dock
Career opportunities, the ones that never knock

Oi!
Do you want to be, do you really want to be a cop?

Career opportunities are the ones that never knock
Every job they offer you is to keep you out the dock
Career opportunity, the ones that never knock

I hate the army an' I hate the R.A.F.
Do you wanna be, do you really wanna be a cop?

Career opportunities are the ones that never knock
Every job they offer you is to keep you out the dock
Career opportunity, the ones that never knock

I hate the army an' I hate the R.A.F.
Do you wanna be, do you really wanna be a cop?
(no fuckin' way) Career opportunities are the ones
that never knock Every job they offer you is to keep
you out the dock Career opportunity,
the ones that never knock.
Here in this town they have all got the blues
As the paper boy takes off without any news
Angels have wings you can feel free to use
The corner store drugs you can freely abuse

And I'm yelling and screaming cause baby you're driving me crazy

So life on your own has been vacant and cold
Everyone's getting somewhere and you're getting old
Career opportunities they all have been sold
Along with your body and most of your soul

And I'm yelling and screaming cause baby you're driving me crazy
If I could spare more remorse from my emptied out pores I would maybe
Cause the fog's getting thicker the world's spinning fast
The chaos is building, it's going too last
And it's so hard to see and you're so hard to find
The days when I think I am losing my mind

So keep painting pictures of beautiful scenes
Striking the canvas with deep blues and greens
When you start frowning they think you're obscene
As you work overtime to make sure they can dream

I'm yelling and screaming cause baby you're driving me crazy
If I could spare more remorse from my emptied out pores I would maybe
Cause the fog's getting thicker the world's spinning fast
The chaos is building, it's going too last
And it's so hard to see and you're so hard to find
The days when I think I am losing my mind

And we yell and we scream
As the fog's getting thicker the world's spinning fast
The chaos is building, it's going to last
And it's so hard to see and you're so hard to find
The days when I think I am losing my mind

And the fog's getting thicker the world's spinning fast
The chaos is building, it's going to last
And it's so hard to see and you're so hard to find
The days when I think I am losing my mind
In another dimension
Like the clothes that you wear
A mighty mighty battle
Sproutin' illegal hair
A fitness consultant
In the negative zone
Wandering the city
Looking for a home

I dance like this
Because it feels so damn good
If I could dance better
Well, you know that I would

How the rumour got started
One can only guess
And the truth don't mean nothin'
If you ain't got the cash
A credit card mommy
An invisible dad
Career opportunities
That you never had

We dance like this
Because it feels so damn good
If we could dance better
Well, you know that we would

I'm working on my dancing
This is the best I can do
I'm tentatively shaking
You don't have to look
Can't say I'm sorry
I can't say I'm ashamed
Can't think of tomorrow
When it seems so far away

We dance like this
Because it feels so damn good
If we could dance better
Well, you know that we would
We dance like this
Because it feels so damn good
If we could dance better
Well, you know that we would
Is the career opportunity
Worth leaving your friends and family?
And when I see you in my dreams
Will you be thinking of me?
I bought a new shirt
New shirt
Gonna change my future
Future
I bought a new shirt
New shirt
Gonna change my future
Future

Sitting on the bed
Thinking of all the occasions
To which I'll wear my new shirt
Of all the new friends
cnd sexual relations
cnd career opportunities of sorts

I bought a new shirt
New shirt
Gonna change my future
Future
I bought a new shirt
New shirt
Gonna change my future
Future

My life came down to deciding
How hot or cold I'm gonna be
In certain outfits provided
Weather conditions on the street

Well, I bought a new shirt
New shirt
Gonna change my future
Future
I bought a new shirt
New shirt
Gonna change my future
Future
Career opportunities, the ones that never knock
So which job do you take if you want to take a job
When the only thing you feel about society
Is rejection and a sense of disdain
But things always go down so much easier with humor

How about something creative
For your artistic vein
And always up-to-date with real politics

But these are hard times for satirists
Yeah, these are hard times for satirists

The revolving door in politics these days
Is spinning so fast you can't keep up the pace
And the instances of ethics and morale
Are even more corrupted than you can picture

But out there in this world
May be just one poor soul
Who starts to think things over because of a joke

Before I forget you might take some heat
And end up in jail or actually dead
'Cause people don't get "I'm offended!"
You're against social care
Do u know many people died?
But as if career opportunities are wide
Also, do u know the unemployment rate is %10 by far

Go outside
If you don't like this then don't be allied
But this is a problem countrywide
As homicide

The ads are on the seaside
But the problems are going on the west side
When the moms are tryin'a pay the rent
but the so-called dads are always thinking about sex

Lovers live in Los Angeles
But a sea away they're homelessness
No doubt
How could you hide the darkness from the sun?
The heard grows thin

Your father was a scorn-filled alcoholic cop,
and mother wasn't far behind
You were ripe for the adverse running,
and so ready to defy the right
Your fashion was the anti-fashion approved,
your music was the latest whatever-core trend
A tattooed body with a mind for rent,
an adolescent iconoclast

Fall Into the ranks aligned,
cattle-pressed pushed to the left
so anti-this and anti-that,
that somewhere along the way you forgot to laugh

Taking every cause you could champion,
you were an overnight political machine
You carried forth the flag of your elders,
and quoted Marx for the class-bound breed

Throwing rocks through the corporate windows,
great destroyer of the economic lie
You got one more year for the oppressed,
and a lifetime to be all you once despised

With career opportunities,
the tidal waves of pressure mount
Reality is one hard blow,
so you gave back your 'scene card' and checked out

You had a dream once,
but now its sold -assets, equity, financial gain?
What if words have no reach
Would you keep writing your stories for no one to read
If every picture's concealed
Would you travel the unknown to discover new seas
What if I cannot feel
Would you teach me all over what love could be
If we all had no scent
Would a child know its mother like nature intends
When every flavor is bland
Would nostalgia exist when tasting something again
What if music is banned
Would my heart need to maybe hang on its beat
When I see the sound and feel the beat
Taste colors while I hear the heat
Notes dancing on a music sheet
Ambiance in the air I breathe
Oh will I know which way to go
To seize the moment down the road
I'm seeking for signs
I'm seeking for signs
Deep down the night
I'm looking for a light
I'm seeking for signs
Am I stuck in a matrix ruled by outside expectation
Whether born with a silver spoon or just building a foundation
As a child you discover the world without obligation
Anticipation at stake you learn to match with the inflation
Then you start to question the guide, dissecting the why
Whatever may come, now is my time, it's up to me to decide
They feed you with a prologue, but the knowledge's classified
Access denied, unless it correlates with what you chose back in time
From the field of study to many career opportunities
The faith of your choice and who to love unconditionally
Are you chasing your passion or acting rationally
Choose a passive life or indulge every instant fully
If there is a key to unlock thousands of doors
I would take my chance and start over from the very bottom floor
Cherish the past, present and future with all its wisdom
As I am seeking for the signs to decipher the system
When I see the sound and feel the beat
Taste colors while I hear the heat
Notes dancing on a music sheet
Ambiance in the air I breathe
Oh will I know which way to go
To seize the moment down the road
I'm seeking for signs
I'm seeking for signs
Deep down the night
I'm looking for a light
I'm seeking for signs
He was our shield against the dark,
Amongst murky evil a fiery spark,
Extinguished now, we stumble on
And must find among us another one,
Another noble lord to stand,
Another great hero to defend our land,
(Or a heroine - for killing
monsters that appear
Is an equal opportunity career)
Beowulf showed us it can be done,
Showed us how battles can be won.
So recall his deeds and
the words he spoke,
And be a kingdom of united folk.
Here in this town they have all got the blues
As the paperboy takes off without any news
Angels have wings you can feel free to use
The corner store drugs you can freely abuse

And I'm yelling and screaming cause
Baby you're driving me crazy

So life on your own has been vacant and cold
Everyone's getting somewhere and you're getting old
Career opportunities, they all have been sold
Along with your body, and most of your soul

And I'm yelling and screaming cause
Baby you're driving me crazy

If I could spare more remorse
From my emptied out pores
I would maybe

Cause the fog's getting thicker
And the world's spinning fast
The chaos is building
It's going to last
And it's so hard to see
And you're so hard to find
There's days when I think I am losing my mind

So keep painting pictures of beautiful scenes
Striking the canvas with deep blues and greens
Realists are frowning, they think you're obscene
As you work overtime to make sure they can dream

And I'm yelling and screaming cause
Baby you're driving me crazy

If I could spare more remorse
From my emptied out pores
I would maybe

Cause the fog's getting thicker
The world's spinning fast
The chaos is building
It's going to last
And it's so hard to see
And you're so hard to find
There's days when I think I am losing my mind

And we yell
And we scream

As the fog's getting thicker
The world's spinning fast
The chaos is building
It's going to last
And it's so hard to see
And you're so hard to find
There's days when I think I am losing my mind

And the fog's getting thicker
The world's spinning fast
The chaos is building
It's going to last
And it's so hard to see
And you're so hard to find
There's days when I think I am losing my mind
Take away my comfort
Take away my job
Strip me of my money
Take away my home

Deprive me of golden
Opportunities
Destroy my career
And my safety

It's the new order

Give me depreciation
Feed me with your crumbs
Take away my liberties
Shade away my sun

Take away everything
Keep it for yourself
Watch the pawns run around
In your setup game
I was granted the opportunity to holla at Mr. Quarters about his upcoming album
And here's what he had to say.

(Rob Quarters)
People keep askin' ?
It's the Natural Disaster: T-Storm comin' at
You with another Hip-Hop spotlight
Since the success of being a radio air
Personality from back in the day
And later goin' on to
Release his independent album
Ludacris has inspired other radio jocks
To persue careers in Hip-Hop
Meet Rob Quarters
A 62-year-old air personality from WZZZ
In Bus County Georgia
I was granted the opportunity to holla at
Mr quarters about his upcoming album
And here's what he had to say

People keep askin' "Why Rob
Quarter, why Rob Quarter
62-year-old muthafuckin' g?"
Sick all the time, I miss my wife - I quit
Got better things to do with my life - I quit
I quit - I quit

Go ahead and say it, tell me I'm getting old
Tell me I'm a sellout, but it's you that's being sold
See, I refuse to think of rock and roll as my career
Tell me all my opportunities, ask me if I care

The rock star lifestyle ain't for me - I quit
Got somewhere else I'd rather be, so I quit
I quit - I quit

Go ahead and say it, call me a fuckin' wimp
Just 'cause I've got a different kind of life that I wanna live
You can criticize my ideals and my priorities
But ultimately I don't give a flying fuck what you think of me

I don't believe in that macho shit - I quit
I know there's no way you can understand it - I quit
Sick all the time, I miss my wife - I quit
Got better things to do with my life - I quit
I quit - I quit

What'd ya think, I wanted to be Mick Jagger or something,
Playing the pixie at 50 or 60?
You're mortified, you're dead or dying
You're flying so high above the earth
And trying to reach down you trip
You rip your shirt, the one you bought from H&M
The clerk was very nice
At least you decide to see
Her behaviour as professional
Her flirting as occasional
And I tried to be funny
I said I couldn't breathe
Now I'm about to choke
On my own bad joke
There's one The Beatles song
That's got nothing to do with The Beatles
And living is for everyone except me
And if you listen to this line please let me know
It would be nice to know someone cares
And if you don't like the order things are in
Go ahead and change them
It hasn't been fun being drunk
Since I was young
No, it hasn't been fun being drunk
And you said
"Hey hey, honey, I love you"
It's something I won't forget
I was a boy until you said "I hate you"
And after that I was a man instead
"Hey hey, honey, I love you"
It's something I won't forget
I was a boy until you said "I hate you"
And after that I was a man instead
The morning after the night I thought you died
I read a piece about The Clash
It said that Rock The Casbah was used by the americans during The Gulf War
That's ironic, you never know how things will end
I've always liked the group, I've listened to them a lot
But I think Combat Rock is weaker than the rest except for Cut The Crap of course
There's just too much funk on that record
I like Give 'Em Enough Rope though
Stay Free is one of their best tracks
It's melodic, fresh and soothing
It's very teenlike
Their third best must be their debut
I might prefer Sex Pistols to the more, real, early punk stuff by The Clash
But already here you can hear them moving away from their punk sound
As on their Junior Marvin cover
And then it's got Career Opportunities on it
It's the essence of The Clash, I just love that track
Sandinista! is the peak of their career artistically
It's got too much filler on it but somehow it's still very intriguing
Nearly every genre is present
But their best work is London Calling
It makes me feel nostalgic somehow and I don't know why
It's not really punk, it's just as much everything else
It's ironic that a punk group should move on to release one of the world's best albums
You never know how things will end
No time for hobbies
No time for fun
Think of the money
Get your work done
No time for hobbies
No time for fun
Pursue your career
Be number one
There's one The Clash song that's got nothing to do with The Clash
And living is for everyone except me
And when you're doing great hold on to the things that help you when you're doing bad
And if you don't like the order things are in
Well, go ahead and change them
It hasn't been fun being drunk
Since I was young
No, it hasn't been fun being drunk
Since I was young

The raising of children, the rearing of young
Used to be simple but look what it's become
The choice of career, the proper vocation
Out of your hands, all for the needs of the nation

No inhibitions with the modern child
Wasted lessons or pleasure or pain
Easy to follow your natural instinct
Easy to follow, much too hard to learn

Useless expressions and sporting aggression
Don't waste my time, I can't wait for the end of the session
What opportunity, the modern child?

Prof nick Cave: Kanye
You join us today to be
Recognized for your transformative
Genre-defining
Work across music, performance
Film, and fashion design your visionary
And ambitious career is
A true reflection of the creative spirit so
By virtue of the authority
Vested in me by the Board
Of Governors of the School
Of the Arts Institute of Chicago
And the Board of
Trustees of the Art Institute of Chicago
I now confer upon you the degree of Honorary
Doctorate of Fine Arts, dr west

Dr kanye West: I’m sorry
That was just my opinion

I am a pop artist so
My medium is public opinion and
The world is my canvas

"I’m sorry" is something that you can
Use a lot it gives
You the opportunity to give your
Opinion, apologize for it
And give your opinion again people say you
Should not be sorry for your opinions
George Bush… has some very
Cool self-portrait's i
Didn’t know he was an artist

I felt my nerves a bit
And I don’t feel that feeling a
Lot the nerves of humility and modesty
When being honored a humanization
A reality of being recognized
And all I thought
As I sit here kinda shaking a little
Bit is "I need to get rid of that
Feeling" I need to not be nervous

This honor is gonna make your
Lives easier two reasons:
You don’t have to defend me as much
And I’m gonna make all of
Our lives easier and it’s
These Floyd Mayweather belts that are
Needed to prove what
I’ve been saying my entire life
Whether it’s the cosign
Of Paul McCartney grabbing me
And saying, "It’s okay
He doesn’t bite white people
" or the New York times cover, or the Time
"Most Influential" cover
And now a doctorate at The
Art Institute of Chicago
When I was giving a lecture at Oxford
I brought up this school because when
I went on that mission to create
In other spaces – apparel, film
Performance – it would have been easier
If I could have said:
"I have a degree at the
Art Institute of Chicago"

Thank you
I used to think I'd smoke my voice away
Got 20 filtered class A opportunities
To destroy my career
So I guess I'll smoke them while I got them
I'm washing my hands twice every half hour
My grandparents are dying and my dog is scared
She will not leave the house
But I guess I truly cannot blame her
Before the world ends won't you
Please listen to my debut album
I was gonna give the record sales
To charity to save us all
But now the flames are nearing
So crank it up before the tape disintegrates
Before the tape disintegrates
I'll be crawling at the bottom of the pit
I'm searching for my broken eyeglasses
But that slam dancer has a cough
So are there any crust punk doctors?
