About Seventh Son

"The Seventh Son" (also listed as "Seventh Son") is a rhythm and blues song written by Willie Dixon. The title refers to the seventh son of a seventh son of folklore, which Dixon referenced previously in his "Hoochie Coochie Man". In 1955, Willie Mabon was the first to record it, which was released as a single by Chess Records. Johnny Rivers recorded the song as the lead track for his album Meanwhile Back at the Whisky à Go Go (1965), which was also one of his most popular singles.

Everybody's talkin' 'bout the seventh son
In the whole wide world there is only one

I'm the one, I'm the one
I'm the one, I'm the one
The one they call the seventh son

I can tell your future, it will come to pass
Do things to you make your heart feel glad
Look in the sky, predict the rain
Tell when a woman's got another man

I'm the one, I'm the one
I'm the one, I'm the one
The one they call the seventh son

I'm the one

Well, I can talk these words that will sound so sweet
They'll even make your little heart skip a beat
Heal the sick, raise the dead
Make the little girls talk outta their heads

And I'm the one, I'm the one
I'm the one, I'm the one
The one they call the seventh son

I'm the one
Oh, I'm the one
Oh, I'm the one
Oh, I'm the one, babe
I'm the one, I'm the one
The one they call the seventh son
I'm, I'm, I'm the one, I'm the one
The one they call the seventh son
