About I've Got Mine

"I've Got Mine" was the second official song released by the English rock band Small Faces in 1965. The song failed to chart despite receiving favourable reviews in the British music press."I've Got Mine" is a hard-hitting, moody R&B song and the first Small Faces single release written entirely by the songwriting duo of the band, Steve Marriott and Ronnie Lane, and features Marriott on main vocals. The song's release was planned to coincide with the release of 'pop/cop' crime film Dateline Diamonds about diamond smugglers. Small Faces appear in the film performing the song, however, the film was not shown in cinemas until long after the single was released into the UK singles chart and so the group lost out on the expected media exposure and publicity. The song was revisited by the band in 1968. A new instrumental version was recorded and released as the title track from the album Ogden's Nut Gone Flake. It was after the release of "I've Got Mine" that Jimmy Winston was released from the band and replaced by keyboardist Ian McLagan (formerly of The Muleskinners). Winston co-wrote the B-side "It's Too Late" with Marriott and Lane.

I just sit here everyday
Wondering what you'll have to say
But you read this letter

'Cause I just wrote her that I'm fine
Between the lines she'll know I'm crying
Can't forget her

And it's hurting, yes, it's hurting
Deep inside me
But no one knows it

'Cause I got my baby
(You get yours)
Don't you know I got my baby
(You get yours)

Oh, my baby
(You get yours)

What's the use of being down
I should be making like a clown
But how can I tell her

That I can't live my life without her
Stop myself from thinking 'bout her
How can I tell her

And it's hurting, how it's hurting
Deep inside me
But no one knows it

'Cause I got my baby
(You get yours)
Everyday I got my baby
(You get yours)

Oh, my baby
(You get yours)

Everyday, baby don't you baby I got mine
You'll get yours, everyday
Hear what I say, come on, yeah

Oh, I got my baby
(You get yours)
Don't you know I got my baby
(You get yours)

Oh, my baby
(You get yours)

Everyday baby, I just sit and cry
And there ain't nothing I can do
Oh, no, no, no, no
I can't stand it no more

I need, I need you so bad
Like I never needed no one, yeah
