About A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You

"A Little Bit Me, a Little Bit You" is a song by Neil Diamond that was released by The Monkees in 1967 (see 1967 in music). Davy Jones sang the lead vocal (this was Jones' first lead vocal on a Monkees single). It went to No. 1 in the US Cashbox charts. On the Billboard charts it went to No. 2, and "Somethin' Stupid" by Frank Sinatra and Nancy Sinatra kept it from the No. 1 spot. The record's B-side was Michael Nesmith's "The Girl I Knew Somewhere", which also charted on Billboard, peaking at No. 39. It was also included in the "I'm a Believer" EP in Europe that year. Neil Diamond never made a studio recording of the song (as he had done with "I'm a Believer"), but he did perform the song in his live shows of 1967. At least one recording of such a performance exists and circulates from New York's Bitter End club. While the song was originally published by Screen Gems-Columbia Music (BMI), it is now published by Stonebridge Music/EMI Foray Music (SESAC).

Walk out
Girl, don't you walk out, we've got things to say
Talk out
Let's have it talked out and things will be okay

Girl
I don't want to find
I'm a little bit wrong
And you're a little bit right
And I said, girl
You know that it's true
It's a little bit me (a little bit me)
And it's a little bit you, too

Don't know
Just what I said wrong but, girl, I apologize
Don't go
Here's where you belong so wipe the tears from your eyes

Girl
I don't want to find
I'm a little bit wrong
And you're a little bit right
And I said, girl
You know that it's true
It's a little bit me (a little bit me)
And it's a little bit you, too

Oh, girl
I don't want to find
I'm a little bit wrong
And you're a little bit right
Well, I say, girl
You know that it's true
It's a little bit me (a little bit me)
And it's a little bit you
Too

It's a little bit me (uh-huh, it's a little bit me)
It's a little bit you (uh-huh, it's a little bit you)
Girl, don't go, no, no, no, no, no (uh-huh, it's a little bit me)
Girl, don't go, no, no, no, no, no (uh-huh, it's a little bit you)
Hey, girl (uh-huh, it's a little bit me)
Hey, girl, please don't go (uh-huh, it's a little bit you)

The Monkees are an American pop band that released music under their original incarnation between 1966 and 1970, with subsequent reunion albums and tours in the decades that followed. Assembled in Los Angeles in 1965 by Robert "Bob" Rafelson and Bert Schneider for the American television series The Monkees, which aired from 1966–1968, the musical acting quartet was composed of Americans Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, and Peter Tork, and Englishman Davy Jones. The band's music was initially supervised by producer Don Kirshner. more »
