"I Know" is a 1995 song recorded by American R&B singer Dionne Farris. Written by Milton Davis and William DuVall, it was the first single from Farris' debut album Wild Seed – Wild Flower and was released in March 1995. The song was a hit in her native United States, peaking at number four on the Billboard Hot 100, and it also spent 10 consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40, staying 28 weeks on the chart. Outside the US, "I Know" reached number one in Canada on the week of April 10, 1995, and was the 19th most successful single of the year. It also achieved moderate success in Australia, France, Germany, Iceland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Radio & Records magazine ranked "I Know" as the most played song on mainstream Top 40/CHR radio stations for 1995, spending nine weeks atop the chart and 19 weeks in the top 10. It was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1996. Davis and DuVall won an ASCAP Pop Award for writing the song in 1996. more »

Dionne Farris

Dionne Farris (born 1968, Plainfield, New Jersey, United States) is an American female R&B/soul musician who sang on three songs with the hip hop group Arrested Development. In 1995, she had a solo hit single called "I Know", which hit number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1996, and in 1997, she had another called "Hopeless" (written by Van Hunt) from the Love Jones soundtrack. This was after her demo made its way to Sony Music, and her debut album, Wild Seed, Wild Flower, was released in the summer of 1994, spawning "I Know."Wild Seed - Wild Flower reached #57 on the Billboard 200 chart. more »
