Well, The Rain Was A-Failin'
And The Ground Turned To Mud
I Was Watching All The People
Running From The Flood

So I Starred To Payin'
Though I Ain't No Prayin' Man
For The Lord To Come A Helpin'
Knowing He'd Understand

Deliver Your Children To The Good Good Life
Give'em Peace And Shelter And A Fork And Knife
Shine A Light In The Morning And A Light At Night
And If A Thing Goes Wrong You'd Better Make It Right

Well, I Had A Woman
She Was Good And Clean
She Spent All Day With The Washing Machine
But When It Come To Lovin'

She Was Never Around
She Was Out Getting Dirty
All Over Town

[Chorus]
Well, I Was Low On Money
And My Truck Broke Down
I Was On My Way To The Lost And Found
So I Took It To A Dealer
I Said Make It Run
Well, I Ain't Got No Money
But I Got Me A Gun

I Said You Robbed Me Before
So I'm Robbing You Back
And If It Don't Put You Straight
It'll Put You On The Right Track
Well, I Ain't No Devil And I Ain't No Saint
But I Can Tell A Dealer By The Colour Of His Paint

[Chorus]

If You Want Good Eggs
You Gotta Feed That Hen
And If You want to Hear Some More
Well, I'll Sing It Again

10 facts about this song

Song Creation
This song "Deliver Your Children" was not written solely by Paul McCartney. Instead, it was a collaborative work with Denny Laine, who was a part of his then-existing band, Wings.
Album Inclusion
"Deliver Your Children" was included in the sixth studio album of the band Wings titled 'London Town', which was released in 1978. Interestingly, this album became quite successful, reaching number two on the U.S. Billboard chart and number four on the U.K. chart.
Vocals
Unlike many other songs of the band, where Paul McCartney is the lead singer, in "Deliver Your Children," it is Denny Laine who leads the vocals. This made Laine one of the few people to have sung lead vocals on a Paul McCartney song.
Song Style
The song has a distinct folk-rock style. The lyrics speak directly to the parents, asking them to direct their children to bright futures.
Acoustic Tune
This song is entirely acoustic, merging brilliantly with the lyrics' folksy vibe.
Critical Reception
Though not one of the more famous songs by Paul McCartney and Wings, "Delivery Your Children" received praise for its complex guitar parts and engaging harmony.
Song Message
The song metaphorically uses the phrase "deliver your children" as a message to parents to give their children the life lessons they need to navigate life's adversities.
Line-up Changes
This song was one of the tracks recorded after significant changes in the Wings line-up - drummer Joe English and lead guitarist Jimmy McCulloch had left the band before the album's recording.
Album Recording
The song, like the rest of the 'London Town' album, was recorded in the Virgin Islands on a yacht named 'Fair Carol' which had been converted into a studio. This unusual location was chosen to avoid the high taxes in the UK.
Backing Vocals
While Denny Laine leads the vocals, Paul McCartney provides backing vocals, accentuating the song's harmonious blend.
