It is a French house song featuring a vocal performance by Romanthony that is stylistically autotuned. The music video of the song forms part of the 2003 anime film, Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. "One More Time" was a moderate commercial success, charting at number one on the Syndicat National de l'Édition Phonographique, number 2 on the UK Singles Chart, and is one of the duo's few charting songs in the United States, reaching number 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. In addition to commercial success, "One More Time" was also a critical hit. The song has also received multiple accolades. The song is listed at number 5 on Pitchfork's top 500 songs of the 2000s, with the magazine writing that it "distill[s] 25 years of pop and house into five and a half minutes of first-time joy." Rolling Stone listed it at number 33 of their top 100 songs of the decade (2000–2009) as well as number 307 on its amended "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list in May 2010. It was voted by Mixmag readers as the greatest dance record of all time. Also, "One More Time" was ranked at number 11 on The Village Voice's Pazz & Jop annual year-end critics' poll.

Daft Punk is an electronic music duo consisting of French musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (born 8 February 1974) and Thomas Bangalter (born 3 January 1975). Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop. The duo is credited with producing songs that are considered essential in the French house scene. They were managed from 1996 to 2008 by Pedro Winter (Busy P), the head of Ed Banger Records.
