About Monstrance Clock

The monstrance clock, or mirror clock, is a type of clock that was developed during the Renaissance (1300AD – 1600AD). It is cross-shaped and typically either gold or silver in colour but can feature both colours. They used to play an important part in a church ritual and often incorporated sacred figures as part of the design. The clock made use of a rotating ball at the top or in the base to indicate the time of day. Monstrance clocks and crucifix clocks remained fashionable until the eighteenth century. Pop culture references include the song "Monstrance Clock" by the band Ghost. The song itself has themes of satanic ritual, rather than Renaissance-age Catholicism.

To the sound of the monstrance clock
Air is cleansed, assembled flock
Black candles burn, all minds aligned

To the sound of the monstrance clock
Air is cleansed, assembled flock
Black candles burn, all minds aligned

As the parish sighs in smoke
Enters lady revealed of cloak
To the haunting sound of the monstrance clock
Singing

Come together, together as a one
Come together for Lucifer's son

To the sound of the end of day
Mesmerized, the assembled sway
Black candles burn, all minds aligned

Hypnotizing horns of ram
Paralyzing pentagram
And the eerie sound of the monstrance clock
Singing

Come together, together as a one
Come together for Lucifer's son
Come together, together as a one
Come together for Lucifer's son
Come together, together as a one
Come together for Lucifer's son
Come together, together as a one
Come together for Lucifer's son

Come together, together as one
Come together for Lucifer's son
Come together (come together), together as one
Come together (come together) for Lucifer's son (for Lucifer's son)
Come together (come together), together as one
Come together (come together) for Lucifer's son (for Lucifer's son)
Come together (come together), together as one
Come together (come together), forever as one (forever as one)

The deliberate attempt to contact the spirit of a deceased person is known as necromancy, or in spiritism as a séance. The belief in the existence of an afterlife, as well as manifestations of the spirits of the dead, is widespread, dating back to animism or ancestor worship in pre-literate cultures.
