About Say You Love Me

"Say You Love Me" is a song written by singer Christine McVie for Fleetwood Mac's 1975 self-titled album. The song peaked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks, and remains one of the band's best-known songs. Its success helped the group's eponymous 1975 album sell over eight million copies worldwide. In the UK, "Say You Love Me" was the fourth single from the Fleetwood Mac album, but the first to chart, peaking at #40 on the UK Singles Chart in September 1976. In Canada, Shirley Eikhard covered "Say You Love Me" and released it as a single several weeks in advance of Fleetwood Mac in early June 1976. Eikhard took the song into the Canadian top 40, peaking at #34; Fleetwood Mac's version, released only a few weeks later, peaked at #29 in September.

Have mercy, baby on a poor girl like me,
You know I'm falling, falling, falling, at your feet,
I'm tingling right from my head to my toes,
So help me, help me, help me make the feeling go.

'Cause when the loving starts, and the lights go down,
And there's not another living soul around,
Then you woo me until the sun comes up,
And you say that you love me.

Have pity baby,
Just when I thought it was over,
Now you got me running, running, running for cover.
I'm begging you for a little sympathy,
And if you use me again it'll be the end of me.

'Cause when the loving starts, and the lights go down,
There's not another living soul around,
You woo me until the sun comes up,
And you say that you love me.

Baby, baby, hope you're going to stay away,
'Cause I'm getting weaker, weaker, everyday,
I guess I'm not as strong as I used to be,
And if you use me again it'll be the end of me.

'Cause when the loving starts, and the lights go down,
There's not another living soul around,
You woo me until the sun comes up,
And you say that you love me.

'Cause when the loving starts, and the lights go down,
Yhere's not another living soul around,
You woo me until the sun comes up,
And you say that you love me.
Say that you love me
Say that you love me

Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac are a British-American rock band formed in 1967 in London. Due to numerous line-up changes, the only original member present in the band is its eponymous drummer, Mick Fleetwood. Despite band founder Peter Green naming the group by combining the surnames of two of his former bandmates (Fleetwood, McVie) from John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, bassist John McVie played neither on their first single nor at their first concerts. The keyboardist, Christine McVie, who joined the band in 1970 while married to John McVie, appeared on all but two albums, either as a member or as a session musician. She also supplied the artwork for the album Kiln House. more »
