"FloriDada" is a song by Animal Collective, released as the first single from their 2016 album Painting With. It was released on November 30, 2015 by Domino Records. Avey Tare explained that the song was "sort of inspired by hating on people from Florida. I was driving in L. A. and flipping through the radio dial and came across a morning radio show where they're just talking all the time. They had a segment called, like, 'Dumb Things People Are Doing In Florida.' It kind of bothered me. ... Everybody—they kind of agree that Florida's such a weird place, know what I mean? But in a way, that's part of the charm of it." more »

Animal Collective

Animal Collective is an experimental psychedelic band originally from Baltimore, Maryland, currently based in New York City, Los Angeles and Lisbon. Animal Collective consists of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin (Josh Dibb), and Geologist (Brian Weitz). Records released under the name Animal Collective may include contributions from any or all of these members; the lineup is not uniform. The band members met in school and started recording together in various forms of collaboration from a young age. The group also runs the record label Paw Tracks on which they have released their own material as well as that of other artists. more »
