The song has been recorded by Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary, John Denver, Pete Seeger, Fred Penner, David LaMotte, Makem and Clancy, Raffi Cavoukian, John Lithgow, Arlo Guthrie, Elizabeth Mitchell, Charlotte Diamond, as well as the Muppets. Peter, Paul and Mary

Peter, Paul and Mary were a US folk-singing trio whose nearly 50-year career began with their rise to become a paradigm for 1960s folk music.
