It was released in September 1986 as the second single from the album Wings. The song was Johnson's third country hit and was the first of two number one country singles. The single went to number one for one week and spent a total of sixteen weeks on the country chart.

Michael Johnson (born August 8, 1944), is an American pop, country and folk singer-songwriter and guitarist. He is best known for his 1978 hit song "Bluer Than Blue". To date, he has charted four hits on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, and nine more on the Hot Country Songs charts, including two Number One country hits in 1986's "Give Me Wings" and "The Moon Is Still Over Her Shoulder".
