About A Film for the Future

"A Film for the Future" is a song by Scottish rock band Idlewild, from their 1998 debut album Hope Is Important. It was the first single to be released from the album and charted at #53 in the UK Singles Chart in April 1998 (see 1998 in British music). The song was used in the videogame Gran Turismo. Roddy Woomble told The Skinny (magazine) in a video interview in 2015 the song "kind of launched our career on a major label". He added: "Because up until that point we had always been on independent labels. So, yeah, I think there was high hopes for that song and I think to a certain degree it established us, a wee bit. And it was a good song to be known for when we were playing live, because our live concerts were known for, like, chaos and excitement.
