About Get Up

"Get Up" is the lead single for Mary Mary's fourth studio album The Sound. The single was written and produced by both Mary Mary and producer Warryn Campbell, husband of member Erica Campbell. The song is known as "the movement anthem". According to the group, the song was written and produced to appeal to young generations with a mainstream sound that still captures the message of the gospel. The group's goal was achieved when the song received moderate success in dance clubs worldwide, while holding the #1 spot on the U. S.'s Hot Dance Club Play chart. In December 2008, the song received two Grammy Award nominations for the 51st Grammy Awards of 2009 in the categories "Best Gospel Song" and "Best Gospel Performance". On February 8, 2009, Mary Mary won the Grammy for Best Gospel Performance.

Layin' low
Rest n' pause
Sleeping long
Slow motion
Gonna do
Should of, could of, would of done
Excuses

What are you afraid of?
Don't you know what you're made of?
One of God's greatest creations
Take this invitation now

Get up
Cause you can't stop
Get up
Got a lot to do
Twenty four hours
Almost gone
Get up
Don't sit there
Get up
If you wanna get there
Clocks don't stop and
Time won't wait

He said
She said
They said
What do you say?
It's your dreams
Your choice
Your time
Your life
So don't you
Don't you
Miss it

What are you afraid of?
Don't you know what you're made of?
One of God's greatest creations
Take this invitation now

Get up
Cause you can't stop
Get up
Got a lot to do
Twenty four hours
Almost gone
Get up
Don't sit there
Get up
If you wanna get there
Clocks don't stop and
Time won't wait

Welcome to the rest of your life
From now on, just try
To live more, want more, work a little harder
Dance more, laugh more, be a little smarter
Hug a little longer, love a little stronger
You've been down but now it's time to

Get up
Cause you can't stop
Get up
Got a lot to do
Twenty four hours
Almost gone
Get up
Don't sit there
Get up
If you wanna get there
Clocks don't stop and
Time won't wait

Get up
Cause you can't stop
Get up
Got a lot to do
Twenty four hours
Almost gone
Get up
Don't sit there
Get up
If you wanna get there
Clocks don't stop and
Time won't wait

Mary Mary

Mary Mary is an American contemporary gospel duo, consisting of sisters Erica Atkins-Campbell (born (1972-04-29)April 29, 1972) and Trecina "Tina" Atkins-Campbell (born (1974-05-02)May 2, 1974). The duo are often credited along with Kirk Franklin for broadening the fan base of urban contemporary gospel in the 2000s by introducing elements of soul music, hip hop, funk and jazz. Mary Mary broke onto the music scene with their popular song "Shackles (Praise You)"—which is considered one of the pioneering songs of urban contemporary gospel music. The group's name, as stated in an interview is inspired by the two famous Mary's from the Bible; Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, and Mary Magdelene. more »
