Doris Day (born Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff, April 3, 1922) is an American actress, singer, and animal rights activist, who began her career as a big band singer in 1939, but only began to be noticed after her first hit recording, "Sentimental Journey", in 1945. After leaving the Les Brown & His Band of Renown to try a solo career, she started her long-lasting partnership with Columbia Records, which would remain her only recording label. Light your lamp, and turn up the wick
I'll be there on the double quick
Wanna tell you I've been missin'
Your caressin' and you kissin'
So I'm comin' home tonight

Light your lamp so that I can see
All the love that you saved for me
Here's a lover in a hurry
In a tizzy and a flurry
Till my arms can hold you tight

How's your heart, did you check its beat
How's your kiss, is it warm and sweet
Be prepared honey when we meet
`cause I'm makin' up for lost time

Light your lamp, and turn up the wick
I'll be there pretty jiffy quick
Oh I know I've been a rover
But my roamin' days are over
And I'm comin' home tonight

Light your lamp, and turn up the wick
I'll be there on the double quick
Wanna tell you I've been missin'
Your caressin' and you kissin'
So I'm comin' home tonight

Light your lamp so that I can see
All the love that you saved for me
Here's a lover in a hurry
In a tizzy and a flurry
Till my arms can hold you tight

How's your heart, did you check its beat
How's your kiss, is it warm and sweet
Be prepared honey when we meet
`cause I'm makin' up for lost time

Light your lamp, and turn up the wick
I'll be there pretty jiffy quick
Oh I know I've been a rover
But my roamin' days are over
And I'm comin' home tonight

You'd better go light your lamp
I'm comin' home tonight.
