Look of Love

The band’s lead singer, Martin Fry, revealed in an interview that the "The Look of Love" was written after a break-up, with the song being an exploration of the emotions he was feeling at that time.

The music of "The Look of Love" is known for its sophisticated production quality, with elements of a string orchestra and various synthesizer sounds.

"The Look of Love" was nominated in the 1983 Grammy Awards for Best Pop Vocal Performance but lost to "Shock the Monkey" by Peter Gabriel.

The song was released in several parts. "The Look of Love (Part 1)" was the main single, while "The Look of Love (Part 2)" was an instrumental track closely related to the main track. "The Look of Love (Part 3)" and "The Look of Love (Part 4)" appear in the B-sides and the 12" version of the single respectively.

The music video for "The Look of Love" is black-and-white, possibly to give a classic look. This made it stand out amongst other music videos of that time period.

"The Look of Love's" parent album, "The Lexicon of Love" has been considered as one of the great pop albums, featuring an entire side of an ongoing love story concept.

Many artists have covered "The Look of Love" over the years, signifying its popularity and influence on subsequent musicians. Some of these artists include British pop duo, AlunaGeorge, and K-pop boy band, Stray Kids.
