"Santa Monica (Watch The World Die)" is a rock song by the band Everclear, from their 1995 album Sparkle and Fade. The song was written by the band's lead singer, Art Alexakis. Though it was not officially released as a single in the United States, American radio stations played "Santa Monica" enough for it to reach number 29 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart in 1996. The song spent three weeks atop the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, reached number five on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart, and peaked at number 35 on the Top 40 Mainstream chart. It also became a top-forty hit in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom; it is the band's highest-charting single in Australia. more »

Everclear

Everclear is an American rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in 1992 best known for their radio hits spanning more than a decade. For most of its existence, Everclear consisted of Art Alexakis (vocals and guitar), Craig Montoya (bass guitar and vocals), and Greg Eklund (drums, percussion & vocals). Eklund replaced original drummer Scott Cuthbert in 1994. Montoya and Eklund departed the band in 2003, but Alexakis continued the band with Dave "Davey" French (lead guitar), Josh Crawley (keyboards), Sam Hudson (bass guitar), and Tommy Stewart (drums, percussion). However all members except for Alexakis left the band in July 2009 to be replaced with a 4th lineup of Everclear. more »
