Tourniquet

Marilyn Manson

About Tourniquet

"Tourniquet" is the second major-label single by the band Marilyn Manson, from the second studio album Antichrist Superstar. The image this song conveys is that of the main character in a world of sorrow and self-pity, prior to his transformation into the Little Horn. It was written by frontman Marilyn Manson, co-founder Daisy Berkowitz and longtime bassist and guitarist Twiggy Ramirez. Like many other songs from Antichrist Superstar, the songs lyrics are based on a dream Manson had. In the first few seconds of the song, backmasked vocals can be heard, which are: "This is my lowest point of vulnerability". Like many Marilyn Manson songs from the first three albums, some of the lyrics to this song were previously a poem Manson had written prior to the formation of the band. The title track was covered by the cello rock band Rasputina on their EP, The Lost & Found. The song was used as the theme music for professional wrestler Jeff Hardy during his stint with Ring Of Honor. The song is also featured as downloadable content for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock as part of the "February Mega Pack." The song also can be learned on guitar with Rocksmith 2014 Remastered. The song was part of the Marilyn Manson song pack that became available on 07-25-2017.

She's made of hair and bone and little teeth
And things that cannot speak
She comes on like a crippled plaything
Her spine is just a string

I wrapped our love in all this foil
Silver tight like spider legs
I never wanted it to ever spoil
But flies will always lay their eggs

Take your hatred out on me
Make your victim my head
You never ever believed in me
I am your tourniquet

Prosthetic synthesis and butterfly
Sealed up with virgin stitch
If it hurts baby please tell me
Preserve the innocence
I never wanted it to end like this
But flies will lay their eggs

Take your hatred out on me
Make your victim my head
You never ever believed in me
I am your tourniquet

What I wanted, what I needed
What I got for me
What I wanted, what I needed
What I got for me

Take your hatred out on me
Make your victim my head
You never ever believed in me
I am your tourniquet

Take your, take your
Get up out of me
I'm not proud with me
I never ever believed in me

Marilyn Manson

Brian Hugh Warner (born January 5, 1969), better known by his stage name Marilyn Manson, is an American rock musician and former music journalist known for his controversial stage persona and image as the lead singer of the eponymous band Marilyn Manson. His stage name was formed from juxtaposing the names of two American cultural icons, namely actress Marilyn Monroe and multiple murder convict Charles Manson as a critical and, simultaneously, laudatory appraisal of America and its peculiar culture. The seemingly outrageous visual and vocal styles he employs, his unique interpretations of familiar songs and the controversy surrounding his lyrics and imagery have led to his very pronounced public appeal. more »
