"Nobody but Me" is a song written by O'Kelly, Rudolph, and Ronald Isley of The Isley Brothers and first recorded by The Isley Brothers in 1962. The most commercially successful and widely known version to date is the 1968 US Top 10 hit by The Human Beinz, which was their only chart success. The Human Beinz version, whose lyrics feature names of dances popular in the late 1960s (shing-a-ling, skate, boogaloo, Philly), is noted for multiple repetitions of the word "no." The Isley Brothers version, whose lyrics feature names of dances popular in the early 1960s (twist, shout, mash, popeye), also repeated "no" many times.  more »

The Isley Brothers

The Isley Brothers ( /ˈaɪzliː/ YZ-lee) are an American musical group consisting of brothers Ron and Ernie Isley. The founding members of the band were Ronald Isley, older brothers Rudy and Kelly and younger brother Vernon. Originally formed as a gospel quartet, following the death of brother Vernon, the remaining trio launched a career into doo-wop scoring with their first million-selling hit single, "Shout", in 1959.
