I done been through so much
And then one morning I woke up and told myself that is enough
I understand my childhood was rough
I had to stay tuff
And I always kept a job so I ain't have to keep it tucked
My momma was on them drugs
My daddy was a deadbeat
But I ain't never let none of that stuff ever effect me
Not the methamphetamine or the fact that I got 17 Brothers and 14 sisters
That I ain't never meet
All I've ever wanted was the basic life necessities
All I've ever wanted was someone to come and check on me
So I just gave my best
So it wouldn't get the best of me
And had the tendency of following positive tendencies
Look at where I'm at now
Man look at where they're at
Just kept on moving forward and I never looked back
When you lose sight of what you built that's when everything collapse
So I live every single day like the day could be my last
I'm grateful for what I have
Remember being a have not
When coming across food was about as common as Sasquatch
The moment I had nothing I gave everything I got
Now I can feed others
In the house I just bought
Never would I of thought
That my life would be the life it is
Wife at home, stable career, with a retirement
I know now more than ever, the decisions that I made
Was the ultimate difference from going to prison or a grave

Through all this money that I've made
It never really took away the pain
It just uncovered the feelings I had inside
The same feelings that I hid when I was high
I became accustomed to the conflict
I actually considered selling drugs as an option
Get it how I live and put some money in my pocket
Working legally something my parents never taught me
I'll be damned if I don't tell my story in a Storybook
Young, black, working, homeowners we need more of us
Stop with all the poppin' pills, doing drugs, and pouring up
Blatant with ignorance and wonder why they ignore us
When you stick out like a sore thumb
I can feel the hate in your vibe, you need some more Love
You don't got a good job cuz you don't want one
Put them drugs down and I bet it opens doors up
