One. More. Time
One. More. Tale
One. Last. Rhyme
One. That's. Real

History don't repeat but it often rhymes
The rhymes I authorize literally won't repeat
Rizzy on the Beat and our thoughts align
We're zest from an orange rind mixed with bitter tea
And this is me, not too indiscreet
This whole time sharing my views from the window seat
I've tried to keep it light and not get in too deep
But if I don't say this the album's incomplete
We do it for the art, with passion for the beat
Rhyming from the heart, scratching like a beast
Digging for new loops and jack 'em like a thief
Bigging up this music fashioned in the East
Uh huh- Y'all know it started in the Bronx
A worldwide phenomenon got launched
Some radio waves made it up into my room
Right then I knew I want a girl with a bad attitude
And qhen Award Tour dropped I copped my first CD
By then this music took on a new meaning to me
I heard a way of life vibrant in expression
A ray of light outshining its oppression
To be Black in the States tho I couldn't be relating
911's a Joke left me enraged and awakened
Beat breaks let me escape when my chest aches
Recording songs from the radio on cassette tapes
Tape Deck Tuesdays, True School Thursdays
A yellow Walkman and a purple tape for my birthday
There's something about bumping underground sounds
Unbuttoning blouses and Columbia House
That take me down memory lane, my rhymes were less profound
Steady on the humble, I was just messing 'round
To make paper I took a crack at day labor
I was a beach raker, an ice cream maker
Wine purveyor, pizza conveyor
Front desk in hotels, concierge as well
Sales coordinator, language translator
Then I learned from Ross and became an educator
Still rhyming all the time, improvising on a dime
Pushed to new heights as Ross pushed along the crossfader

Born. To. Live
Life. And. Die
So. Dang. Short
Won-der. Why

I've kept it tight with my students for years
I'm known in their homes, through laughter and the tears
My first group of kids are now thirty, no doubt
And some of my own dear teachers are my coworkers now
Hey Ross, we could've made an album decades ago
While the experience gained since has affected my flow
Less hair, more skills, less fear, more bills
Laissez faire, for real, yet there's no drill here
In the US, some clueless don't dare to really see
This racism's on us to bear responsibility
Not a disease of the oppressed but the oppressor
I love America, I'll scrutinize her forever
Society loves a Black rapper as long as they're the killing type
Yet would defile their cadaver if they speak out on civil rights
What good is rule of law when you study the acquittal rates
In black and white, then tell me the system don't discriminate?
We illustrate with love this homage to Black music
Don't want a dime in return for you to clap to it
Each one teach one, this lesson's an investment
A blessing for unity, give back to our community
This music can be your source of inspiration
It's been subverting expectations for generations
Did your parents also say it's just a fad that won't last?
Well I hope you're listening Dad and we can have a good laugh
Show em what peace can do when they reach for you
Before we bid you adieu, let's peep thru my rearview
In 95, the Pharcyde, my first show live
Bumping into Mr. Lif and he'd always say hi
FaktzOne spun the latest; Big Tigga in the Bassment
Shared a beedie with Del and just listened in amazement
If we reach even one soul then our job's done
But then it stands to reason we've only just begun
That we've only just begun
We've only just begun
Only just begun
Just begun

All of this is just a story that I made up
Def lines I say on time with Ross the Boss's cuts
Some of it's fiction, and some of it's fact
Not another common rap but Golden Era Boombap
Boom bap, boom bap boom bap boom bap
Boom bap, boom bap boom bap, boom bap
Boom bap, boom bap boom bap, who's that?
It's Ross the Boss and Radical Matt
He's RTB and I'm MRJSTAR
We're the unknown quasar
Bumpin' on your radar...we out!
