Some folks are making idols
Out of guys just because they got more stuff than me or you
Some folks think that's a thing they should do

It might be time to get some better role models
Stop idolizing a privileged few
Like puffed up rich men, sex tape celebrities
Influencers and talk show guys
Pranksters, gangsters, priapic space jockeys
And people who can't stop spreading lies

Some folks will make an idol out of money
Or close their eyes to the danger that they're in
Some folks hand over their future to a gangster
Some put their faith in an authoritarian
They'll say you can join them
And say they will save you
But nothing ever trickles down

No god of gold is gonna save us
No god of cash is gonna save us
No god of greed is going to lend us a hand
No path of blind faith is gonna save us
There is no patriarch coming to save us
And no path of hate is gonna save us
