Days pass, he's quiet
Weeks go by, it seems we're by it
Then I return home to the flat
Key in the door as I adjust the mat
A dark hallway and no sign of life
The flat is cold, hasn't seen warmth tonight
There's a silence like a vacuum that pulls me down the hall
And a screaming from the table, a white piece of paper and a scrawl
Is bathed in orange street light from the lamp outside
Amidst the dark and amber warning, a pen sets to its right side
As if I may reply
But it's large scrit and free space is shy

I want to go about my life
But I lock myself up in the flat that night
I've allowed him to get under my skin

I actually forget how to smile
I can't access the muscles though God, I try
I start to trip, to stammer to stutter in my speech
I can't meet peoples eye
This is all brand new to me
The room now has a funny way of spinning and I'll have to hold tight
Something's arrived at my door and it's come knocking tonight
