Blinded in Chains

City of Evil is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold, released on June 6, 2005, through Warner Bros. and Hopeless Records. Co-produced by Andrew Murdock, City of Evil contains a more traditional heavy metal and hard rock sound than Avenged Sevenfold's previous two albums, which showcased a predominantly metalcore sound. The album title is derived from a lyric in the song, "Beast and the Harlot". The album is notable for the absence of fry vocals. M. Shadows worked for months before the album's release with vocal coach Ron Anderson, whose clients have included Axl Rose and Chris Cornell, to achieve a sound that had "grit while still having the tone". We have never met, but let me say
Like an older brother, you are there
Through it all, through the waves
Spines and shivers, scary's anywhere

Take a look, there's nothing safe
(I can hear you)
From a bond of liquid gold
Is born eternal harmony

To the Man in the Box, you have your wings
(Yeah-eah-eah-eah-eah)
(You were never small to me)
Damn is putting it lightly, you could sing
(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
From the moment Alice let her guard down

Dirty, druggy, delightfully deep
Fills me up not unlike my own bones
What a sound! What a bleed!
Riding decades around not alone

Take a look, there's nothing safe
(I can hear you)
From a bond of liquid gold
Is born eternal harmony

To the Man in the Box, you have your wings
(Yeah-eah-eah-eah-eah)
(You were never small to me)
Damn is putting it lightly, you could sing
(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)

I can hear you
Gold is born eternal harmony

To the Man in the Box, you have your wings
(Yeah-eah-eah-eah-eah)
(You were never small to me)
Damn is putting it lightly, you could sing
(Ah-ah-ah)

Crack the glow sticks, we celebrate your life! (Life!)
Heaven knows no stage that is worthy of you
(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah)
(Whoah-oah-oah-oah-oah)
(Yeah-eah-eah-eah-eah)

Sincerely
