I'm still the kid you don't remember but I don't remember being a kid 
I guess that evens things out in the end 
But don't try to tell me different because I can see it on your face you can't fill in the blanks where I should be
And I won't write you a sob story about how life turned out and what could've been 
Because it's not worth my time to give an explanation of why 
Things turned out the why they did that was your job but you quit 

Maybe someday we'll all feel like a sunflower 
Standing tall amongst the weeds of what we used to be 
And wouldn't it be nice to see a field instead of a garden that is always concealed 
So just let go of what you used to know because it's about time we let ourselves grow 

I'm by the waterfront all alone just trying to figure out what's in my soul 
I've been wrecking my brain just trying to shift this blame 
I've been in denial at the fact I'm self destructive I've known that for a while
But maybe if I accept what I am I can leave it in the past where it all began
I know it's hard to let go but it's the only way I can ever grow

We should take a trip to Kansas to see the sunflowers and pretend we are like them 
There could be some that are 3metres tall and they will make us feel small 
But someday we will have our own fields instead of a garden that we conceal 
We are slowly growing we just need a little more sun so we can show it
