We'd crash our bikes and call it a derby
You'd think we were eight but in fact we were fourteen
Back in high school when the kids were so mean
Until I grew my hair out, I think I was sixteen
My newly gained confidence from being so scene
Updating myspace on a crt screen
Hanging out with some kids who were sketchy
Feeling like I was exactly where I'm supposed to be

What changed? Is it me who is so slow paced?
The years creeping up, suddenly pushing thirty
By now I had thought that I'd be pushing daisies
It's homesickness but I don't know where home is
Homeward bound is hard when you're aimless

I saw it being carried away from my childhood home
Box by box, all that I was
A waste of space, an old grey case
No familiar face, I feel out of place
My youth boxed up, dispose of me, straight to lost and found
Sometimes I feel less lonely when no one's around
Thinking back to those days with our bikes on the ground
Why did we feel so proud?
