No Mercy Here (feat. Jakaila Scaife)

No Justice, No Peace

The easy, fast & fun way to learn how to sing:

Georgia's Jim Crow carceral regime
Produced women every day
And all of the women were white
Black women were subjects
Of “the lowest order of humanity”
“Limited in sentience”
Associated with filth and masculinity
And they could not combat the burden of guilt
That guided all white juries
When the color of their skin was the crime
The protection of white women
Let white manhood assert its authority
By gendered racial terror
As it scrubbed black women from history
But the infrastructure of unfreedom
Could not keep black women from reimagining society
And their contestation of the meaning of modernity
Was their most significant sabotage practice
The girls wondered as they wandered
In their own youthful way
About the patterns of segregation that made
It so that black blocks were ornamented with gas pumps
And white blocks were decorated with roses
The bars that held imprisoned black women in the first two decades of the 20th century remain
So an abolitionist collectivity
Must be maintained
In the tradition of feminist blues incediarism
Determined to shake
If not torch
Entire dungeons
To change
