The Tower loomed over the city
Crystalline and unaffected
The structures below were pitted and battered
By particulates of millennia

We swooped low above the craters
Mystery and majesty lay beneath
Struck by the silence now imposed
W longed for the protection of the Dome

Vast yet almost invisible
Clear against the black of space
How long had it waited, abandoned
Secrets concealed by a paranoid thought

The Castle had prepared us
Yet breath it caught in my throat
The ruins laid around us
Intelligence lost

Abandoned gathered together
Their sorrow consumed as they left
Destination unknowable
Had we been touched by this journey-man state

Their return has been marked and foretold
A legend to most or a fable
But we know the truth of their coming
Prepare for the worst but have hope

Prepare for the worst but have hope
