Carts Before Horses
She got her first hickey from A boy back in high school She told him that she loved him So he lied and said he loved her too And so began a pattern for the miscommunication Between her and the gender that is on the opposition Even though she did her best To be right and true She was honest from the get go through and through He stepped out to see what trouble he could get in to She stepped back never knew he could be so cruel She was different after that It turned into a game Used em and she burned em Cuz it helped her hide from the pain Began the next pattern of unorganized positions Of all the right things to better her condition Even tho she did her best to walk in his shoes She ignored the fact her actions were mean an rude She broke another sucker's heart and made him feel like a fool Now she's coming this way And got her eyes on you She'll take away your pain She'll take away your shame She'll take away bad memories And then she'll give them right back again She'll give you all her time She'll lay it on the line She'll give you lots of good memories And then she'll take them right back again You try to hide your heart But you don't have it anymore She put it in her pocket And she took it with her out the door So begins the story of your hard learned lesson Balancing on the brink of a deep depression Even though you did your best To be calm and cool You got your carts before your horses Feelin' like a fool She stepped out to see what trouble She could get in to You step back and wonder how She could be so rude
