Vampire Squid

The vampire squid (Vampyroteuthis infernalis, lit. 'vampire squid from hell') is a small cephalopod found throughout temperate and tropical oceans in extreme deep sea conditions. The vampire squid uses its bioluminescent organs and its unique oxygen metabolism to thrive in the parts of the ocean with the lowest concentrations of oxygen. It has two long retractile filaments, located between the first two pairs of arms on its dorsal side, which distinguish it from both octopuses and squids, and places it in its own order, Vampyromorphida, although its closest relatives are octopods. Led to a place that has never before been found
Terror and fear surge within me

A horrible, wearable, leather mask upon the bushes and trees
The stench intoxicating
Is this what’s left for me?
Disgusting
Disguising
Creatures appear from the fleshwork
Teeth gnashing
Claws scratching
Wanting to add more decorations
They’re going to make me lifeless and empty
Tear me apart
And my chest will reappear wide open
They’re going to take me
A certain ending
Use me for mulch in the dirt
Grind my body away
Heart racing as I stand
Crippled with fear, I turn away
Running as fast as I can
Into the ocean
Swallowing water and foam
Out to the depths again
Body gyrating about
Fighting the waves
