I wonder for the people who 
Have no one else to tell them 
How else can anybody see 
A meaning that's not absurd 
My word! 
A secret for the government 
A secret for the mobsters 
And then the press is asking your guests 
What gossip has anyone heard 
The truth is only half as true 
As they would have it be 
'Cause when they sell you their bullshit 
They're not talking for free 
I wonder what anyone else would say 
If facts were theirs to see 
But who would sponsor campaigns and heists 
If everyone had the key 
A secret kept is used by fools 
To hide a place for naught 
But R+D and sympathy 
Will have your scheming bought 
They'd rather own a piece of it 
Who cares if it works or not 
Just don't you let the other guy 
Think what you have's not sought 
I know you'd keep a promise that's 
As dear as family 
But could you love your brother as 
Much as your bribery 
Or do you think it's justified 
Because it's salaried 
Or better yet, a better bet 
A bonus, yours scot-free 
Those who give their word to god 
And tell us they speak true 
Don't refrain from dragging faith 
Through everything they do 
As they invoke a cause, from war 
To ignorance, as virtue 
And watch the voters and promoters 
Say it's god's work they do
