Watch: New Singing Lesson Videos Can Make Anyone A Great Singer

Once upon a time... back in the 20th century
Business management was about results... your share price trajectory
It was pretty straightforward and easy to understand
Just identify your market
Be clear about what you make
And make what you make as efficiently as you can
Your strategy was really simple
Just make your business grow
Do more of what you've always done
Just make sure the doing makes more dough

At turn of the century, Fred Taylor defined the relationship with your workforce
He said you need professional managers to keep workers on course
They'll do all the thinking in a scientific way
And to make the business smooth, efficient and productive
The doers will do the doing based on what they say
But all of that has begun to change

Headins into the 20s the world has shifted
Business expectations have unfurled and lifted
Consistent and repetitive don't cut it anymore
Cause that's what they make the robots for
They're faster and smarter every single day
And they don't need to be managed
At least not in a carrot or stick sort of way
And because everybody's got em
The productivity economy has become a race to the bottom
A race where winning is fraught and second is common
A place where it's easy to be forgotten
And the knowledge economy that all the thought leaders tout
Is being replaced by one where learning's what it's all about

Don't matter what you know about how the world is changing
You got to learn how to learn you're gonna change with the changes
No matter how big your data, how much you know
You gotta change how you learn to continue to grow
Cause learning from your executing, executing what you're learning
Takes a different workplace as the century turning
Relating to people is different these days
You better learn how to lead in very different ways
Learn how to lead in very different ways

But expectations go beyond results and agility
You also have to embrace your social responsibility
Investors, shareholders, customers and talent
All look for a business that looks out for the planet
They look for a workplace that engages employees
And responds to millennials' unique needs
A place that's diverse, inclusive, equal, safe and fair
Damn! That's a lot of leadership balls to keep in the air

So that's why I propose a new and different perspective
One where leaders are more leveraged and effective
See diversity ain't an HR problem that yields to demographic change
F*ck, it ain't a problem at all if just re-arrange your brain
Re-arrange your brain
Re-arrange your brain

It's a leadership opportunity of this century's greatest significance
A chance to tap into your people's knowledge and difference
To create a workplace that motivates and fulfills
While building an organisation with greater strength and resilience

Now my rhyme might sound like a social contract
A pact to interact with the folks you want to attract
But in fact it's an act that goes beyond just that
It's a key that unlocks the door to your best future
In a future that changes in ways you best not ignore
Isn't that what a COVID-effected world expects?
Isn't that what today's socially-neglected world requests?
Isn't that what today's leaders are searching for?
Don't tell me that you want more
The diversifying I'm talking about has broad-based, socially-significant effects
Here we go

It weaves your strands of leadership activity
Into a tapestry of dreams that become a reality
A business that's nimble, innovative and exciting
Where your customers are captivated, growing and delighted
And the workplace is motivated, engaging and adaptable
Because your people are more valuable than human capital

Well in my travels there's some things that I've discerned
About how to use diversity to help you learn
There's some lessons that I hope we'll all share
With a different twist and a unique flare
Cause this is easy to say but not so easy to do
Difference takes courage and fortitude
But when you're brave enough to make difference significant
That when diversity becomes a significant difference
Significant difference
