Back in the time when the rock was steady
I clicked my heels and all was ready

Yet something has gone, irretrievably

Long-gone fun, we all carried on
Scooping fame for things so lame
Burnt by the sun I let on
That the worst was yet to come

Once a maiden, lean and tall
Schemed to overthrow them all
She had a brother, reeking foul
Burning just to pierce some bowel
But that is long gone
The world has shuffled on
From this treason
And for good reason

Who could tell whether it was swell
To be caught up in the middle ages
When heaven and hell still rang a bell
At the mercy of the Kyrie and the Eleison

To fall in love again
Is just a matter of conviction

Please don't correct my ragged diction
