Woody Herman & The Young Thundering Herd was a jazz big band led by clarinetist and bandleader, Woody Herman. The group emerged in the 1960s as a new iteration of Herman's earlier popular swing band, known as the Thundering Herd. The Young Thundering Herd continued to push the boundaries of big band jazz by incorporating elements of bebop and fusion into their sound. Despite lineup changes over the years, Woody Herman & The Young Thundering Herd remained a prominent force in the jazz music scene until the late 1980s.
