Ronnie Wells (aka: Veronica Wells-Elliston)(February 28, 1943 – March 7, 2007)) was a jazz balladeer and educator in the Washington area for more than three decades. She shared the stage with such internationally known artists as Billy Eckstine, Lonnie Liston Smith, Jimmy Witherspoon and Oscar Brown. She was founder of the Fish Middleton Jazz Studies Scholarship, co-founded the East Coast Jazz Festival in Montgomery County in 1992 which was an annual jazz festival that continued until 2006. In 2007, Ronnie died at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD after battling lung cancer.
