Niall James Horan (; born 13 September 1993) is an Irish singer and songwriter. He rose to prominence as a member of the boy band One Direction. In 2010, Horan auditioned as a solo contestant for the British televised singing competition The X Factor. After being eliminated as a solo performer, Horan joined four other contestants to form One Direction. As a group, they have released five albums, embarked on four world tours, and won several awards. Following the band's hiatus in 2016, Horan signed a recording deal as a solo artist with Capitol Records. His singles "This Town" and "Slow Hands" from his debut studio album Flicker (2017) reached the top 20 in several countries. The album debuted at number one in Ireland and the United States, as well as charting within the top three in Australia and the UK. His current album, The Show, released in 2023, peaked at number 1 in the UK, making it Horan's second solo album to reach number one in that country. In the US, The Show sold 68,000 copies in just the first week. It debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and number one on the Vinyl albums chart. His lead single from The Show, "Heaven", has topped several charts. One week after the single's release, "Heaven" debuted at number 4 on the Irish singles chart, Horan's highest charting single in the country since 2017's "Slow Hands". In the United Kingdom, the single debuted at number 18, peaking one week later at number 16, and went on to spend 12 weeks in the UK Top 40. In the Netherlands, "Heaven" debuted at number 26, and after 13 weeks it reached number 8. In Sweden, "Heaven" debuted at number 54 on that country's singles chart. In the United States, it debuted at number 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number 62. In Australia, the single peaked at number 30 on the country's ARIA Chart. One week after the single's release, the UK's Official Charts Company reported "Heaven" peaked at number 2 on the Official Trending Chart.
