Ataulfo Alves was a Brazilian composer and singer, known as one of the pioneers of samba music. He had a successful career in the 1930s and 1940s and composed numerous popular samba songs, including "Ai Que Saudades da Amélia" and "Mulata Assanhada." Alves's music often depicted the life and culture of Rio de Janeiro, and he remains an important figure in Brazilian music history.
