Celebrate the Nun were a German synthpop band founded by H. P. Baxxter, Rick J. Jordan, Britt Maxime (Britt Geerdes, sister of H.P.) and Slin Thompson (Nils Enghusen, formerly with The P.O.X.) in 1987. The band released their first album Meanwhile in 1988. Their first single "Ordinary Town" became a hit. However, their second single "Will You Be There" topped out at number five on the US Billboard Dance/Club play chart on June 23, 1990. Their third single "She's A Secretary" topped out at number twelve on December 8 on the same charts. Slin Tompson left the band in 1990 to start a project on his own. In 1991, the band released their second album Continuous, but this was less successful because synthpop's popularity was declining. Because of this, the group disbanded in 1992. Soon afterwards, H.P. Baxxter and Rick J. Jordan joined up with Baxxter's cousin Ferris Bueller to form Scooter. Scooter had originally been envisioned as a short-term project but when their second single Hyper Hyper became a hit, it was decided that they would be a full-time band.
