BIO – Daniel Moore Born 1941 in Walla Walla Washington (one of the closest hospitals,) and raised with six brothers in Athena, Oregon (18 miles north of Pendleton OR,) the son of a preacher man, Daniel Moore, went to college in Eugene OR., for 3 years, then moved to Los Angeles to do music (1962.) Within two weeks he had a record deal, a lousy one (wrote his first song for it.) The year of 1963 was spent playing acoustic bass and singing backup with Jimmy Rogers, another north westerner; and opening for him as a member of the Fairmount Singers. In 1965 he began producing records and publishing songs. In 1967 The Everly Brothers recorded Daniel's song, "Deliver Me". 1970 he joined Joe Cocker's, Mad Dogs and Englishmen group and went on tour. Did an album for ABC Records as an artist, produced a bunch of records (T-Bone Burnett, Delbert McClinton, Sweathog) and began writing in earnest. In 1973 his composition, "Shambala" became a million+ seller hit for Three Dog Night. Then another hit single” My Maria" by his co-writer; B.W. Stevenson. Joe Cocker recorded several of Daniel's songs in 1975 and 1976 for A&M Records. Bonnie Raitt recorded the title cut “Sweet Forgiveness" on Warner Bros. in 1976. 1979 Daniel produced Kim Carnes 1st album for EMI America Records, then in 1981 went on tour with her as a background singer. Meanwhile performing with Rabbit and the Renegade Band and The Moore Brothers Band in the Los Angeles area, Daniel continued his writing. In (1996) Brooks and Dunn recorded "My Maria" and had a smash hit with it. Daniel co-wrote (with Marty Grebb) the song "Fire In The Hole" which was released in the Steven Seagal movie "Fire Down Below" (1997), also on the soundtrack CD. The Band recorded the song, “Shine A Light.” (1998). In 1997 Daniel started his own record company. The DJM roster so far is James Booker, the New Orleans piano prince, Don Preston, classic blues-rock; and Daniel Moore's Riding A Horse & Holding Up The World. Also “Fort Worth West” (Country). Musical Christmas cards to Daniel’s mom, "Yosemite Wonderland," Anna Montgomery’s “Lying In The Face Of Love,” and Eddie Zip’s “New Orleans, Live In Hollywood” and “Night In New Orleans,” Daniel’s 2007 releases are an acoustic album, “Martin & Daniel,” and a Rock album, “The Giveaway.” Also in2007, Joe Cocker recorded Daniel’s song, “Just Pass It On,” released in Europe, March 31, (EMI Limited, London) and released in the USA May 13, 2008 on Fantasy Records. July 15, 2008, DJM Records released Daniel’s album, “LIMITED PARKING,” a collection of “Spiritual” oriented triple A, Americana songs. August 15, 2009 was the release of “Maintain,” a rock/pop album with brand new songs and some older ones. The next album, (2010) “Beware Of The World,” is a rock/pop/Americana album, featuring, Marty Grebb (The Buckinghams, songs recorded by The Band,) Glen Clark (Performed with Delbert McClinton, Jim Belushi, songs recorded by Bonnie Raitt, Delbert McClinton), Jeff Thomas (Entertainer of the Year in Las Vegas,) Nathan Moore (Daniel’s son,) Jodi Siegel (songs recorded by Maria Muldaur, Marsha Ball,) Daniel Moore and Gary Montgomery (The Colours.) The next album release, “Fittin’ To Go Off,” (2011 is another collection of Daniel’s music old and new. Then, also 2011, Danny Timms’ album, “One More Roll Of The Dice,” featuring the great singing and playing of Danny Timms. Then a rash of digital single releases, “Ticket To Malibu,” by The Moore Brothers Band, “Mae,” by Daniel Moore, “Stranded In The Jungle,” by The Fastest Group Alive (Daniel, Jeff Thomas,) and (“Don’t’ Try To Lay No Boogie Woogie On The) King Of Rock & Roll.. The latest “Digital Single” release for Daniel is “Santa Paula Serenade,” an instrumental featuring Darrell Leonard (Brass) and Jerry Peterson (Saxes & Drums.) Daniel married Shirley Dodson in 1965; they have 3 sons. Steven a Civil Engineer on the California State Water Resources Board, lives in Sausalito CA., married Caroline Van Alst, they have 2 daughters. Christopher, an attorney in the Portland area, married Kari McGrath; they have 3 daughters and one son. And then, Nathan, a digital graphics guy and a struggling musician, song writer living in Los Angeles. Daniel retired from performing live, 1995. Daniel remarried in 2005 to Ginny Snow, an elementary school teacher, now retired. They reside at Santa Paula CA. (one hour north of Los Angeles, 10 miles inland from Ventura.)
